Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia
6-session group therapy, October 16 - DECEMber 11, 2024
Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is a short-term, skills-based treatment for problems falling and/or staying asleep. Research has shown CBT-I to be effective at helping people fall asleep faster, stay asleep, and feel more rested during the day.
Group CBT-I will guide participants through a series of changes in sleep-related behaviours and thinking, under the supervision of Dr. Bethany Gelinas, Registered Psychologist. Over six sessions of treatment, each participant will:
Design an individually-tailored sleep program;
Learn which factors interfere with sleep and how to address these factors using proven psychological and behavioural methods;
Learn how to reconnect the bed with sleep, how to consolidate sleep, and how to relax the body and mind in a way that supports restful sleep;
Benefit from accountability and peer support from other participants.
